See it. Feel it.
Craft it. Know it.

Join AnatomySCAPES for Crafting the Fascial Matrix, a free live webinar and a sneak peek into our Journey into the MATRIX workshop. Together we'll explore fascia's collagen matrix through real images of fascia (SEE IT), guided self-palpation (FEEL IT), and a hands-on model-making activity using materials you already have at home (CRAFT IT). This is anatomy education through embodied learning for hands-on therapists — AnatomySCAPES-style.

What is Deep Fascia?

In PART 3 of Crafting the Fascial Matrix, we're going "deep" into deep fascia: the well-organized fibrous layers of fascia that interact with the muscles. Deep fascia has been missing from our anatomy charts, but our muscles cannot do their work without the deep fascia. You're likely already familiar with deep fascia:

  • When somebody describes fascia as "wrapping around every muscle like plastic wrap"? They're talking about deep fascia.
  • Plantar fascia? That's also deep fascia.
  • IT Band? That's deep fascia, too.
  • Myofascia? Deep fascia.

When muscles contract and create force, it's the deep fascia that transmits that force. Muscle and fascia work together as a force-generating and transmitting system. Myofascia (muscle + fascia) teamwork gets the job done. But is that the end of the deep fascia story? Hardly. Deep fascia is richly innervated, woven with sensory receptors giving deep fascia an important role in proprioception and neuromuscular coordination. This is MUST KNOW anatomy for massage therapists!

Here's what attendees say about Crafting the Fascial Matrix:

"Such a fun and informative class! It's a great way to visualize the structures."

"I love your playful way of inspiring us to be truly present while massaging — so enjoyable for our clients and for us. You are amazing teachers!"

"Thank you for a fun and informative dive into fascia and the activities interacting with this incredible tissue."

"Thank you for another wonderful seminar. I love how you make the science approachable and engaging."

"You ladies were fantastic! This webinar was super informative and interesting."

What to Expect:

Crafting the Fascial Matrix is a FREE webinar series for massage therapists.  We'll learn some fascia anatomy and get a sneak peek into our Journey into the MATRIX workshop. We'd love for you to join us in person in the lab, but first, come experience how we teach! Here's what to expect:

BEFORE THE WEBINAR: A few days before the live webinar, you'll receive a short supply list by email. Everything on it is simple, inexpensive, and easy to find — you may already have it at home. Gather your materials, clear a little space, and show up ready to learn.

DURING THE WEBINAR: Crafting the Fascial Matrix follows the same embodied learning techniques we use in our in-person workshops:

👀 SEE IT — We'll share real dissection footage from the AnatomySCAPES lab, so you can see what the tissues we touch actually look like beneath the surface.

🤲 FEEL IT — Guided self-palpation activities bring the anatomy into your own body, right where you're sitting.

🧶 CRAFT IT — We'll build a 3D model using simple materials that makes the science of fascia tangible. (No experience needed. We'll walk you through every step.)

AFTER THE MODEL MAKING? We're talking prizes, surprises, and the chance to show off what you built. Stay for live Q&A with Nicole and Rachelle.

CAN'T MAKE IT LIVE? The replay will be available to registered attendees only for a few days after the event. But trust us; it'll be way more fun to be there in real time.

Crafting the Fascial Matrix is open to all hands-on professionals: massage therapists, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and anyone who works hands-on with the body.

Don't just learn fascia, EMBODY it!

The science of fascia helps us understand the tissues under our hands. The textures, the densities, and how tissue responds to touch. It sets up the framework that explains what we're feeling.

But fascial anatomy is unlike any anatomy we've ever studied. There are no lists of muscles to memorize. No origins and insertions to recite. Fascial anatomy asks something different of us. It asks us to see differently, to feel differently, to understand the body as a continuous, interconnected system rather than a collection of parts.

That kind of understanding doesn't come easily from diagrams and textbooks alone. It comes from our hands, our bodies, and the experience of "building it" ourselves. That's exactly what we do at AnatomySCAPES and exactly what Crafting the Matrix is designed to give you a taste of: embodied learning!

Crafting is serious learning.

At AnatomySCAPES, we don't just lecture (and we insist on having fun) for a reason: SCIENCE. The research on how people actually learn (and retain what they've learned) points toward the body. As massage therapists, we likely don't need much convincing on this. The body is where we work, where we listen, where we understand. Learning anatomy belongs in the body, too!

EMBODIED COGNITION

Cognitive scientists call this embodied cognition: the idea that learning isn't just something that happens in your head. It happens in your hands, your senses, your movement. For example, when you manipulate an object, your brain encodes the concept differently than when you just read about it or only watch a video. Studies show that hands-on, embodied learning produces stronger knowledge retention, especially when tested days or weeks later. That's not a coincidence. It's how memory works!

SEE IT, FEEL IT, CRAFT IT...KNOW IT.

The three-part arc of Crafting the Matrix — see it, feel it, craft it — isn't just for variety. Each modality encodes the same concept through a different neural pathway. Dissection footage activates visual recognition. Self-palpation anchors the concept in your own body. Model-making builds it through your hands. By the time you've done all three, the learning has more places to live in your brain and body.

THE SCIENCE OF FUN

Positive emotions matter for learning. Really matter. They create the neurological conditions where learning sticks.  Curiosity primes the brain for new information. Reduced stress creates the conditions where memory consolidation actually happens. The research shows that a relaxed, curious, engaged learner retains more.

"AnatomySCAPES' courses have completely transformed the way I approach and apply techniques with my clients. It's improved my own understanding and I can now better explain to my clients how my work impacts each fascial layer. It's truly been life-changing, and I am immensely grateful."

Jeanette

"Recently, I realized I needed to develop a deeper understanding of the science behind my work. AnatomySCAPES was the answer I was looking for. Nicole and Rachelle have a gift for making complicated science easy to understand, and they are so fun and engaging!"
